If there’s a tool or product you think belongs here, send us your recommendation and we’ll consider adding it. Everything listed here has been used on our own job sites, and we would buy them again. These are tools that are helpful to attain high quality work as well as production.
Prices and descriptions change – a lot. I try my best to keep prices accurate, and I check on them time to time. With that said, please verify before purchasing.

Brushes & Rollers

Magnum Pressure Roller Kit with 1/2 in. Roller Cover (4-Pack)
I use this on stucco all the time when I’m solo. Stucco eats paint, so rolling and dipping is a no-go. You can spray+backroll but that requires 2 people in reality and can make a huge mess, especially in windy conditions. If you are doing a lot of exterior painting, this can be a money-maker.

Pro Grade Angle Paint Brushes, Paint Brush Set for Trim & Walls, 10 Pc
These are great for the jobs that require a good brush, but are expendable. I keep several several in my van. I clean and re-use the majority for a few times, and tend to use these for exterior jobs or difficult products where the brush is hard to clean.

Purdy 3 -Pack 9-in x 1/2-in Nap WhiteDove Standard Woven Paint Roller Cover
These premium roller covers hold a large volume of paint. I don’t need to tape roll these before using, as they are lint-free. For smooth surfaces, these are worth the extra cost IMO.

Sherlock 2 ft. – 4 ft. Adjustable Extension Pole
Great for variable spaces. A must have in my van.

Wooster Alpha 2 1/2 in. W Angle Synthetic Blend Paint Brush
This is my personal favorite. Clean and crisp long lines. These brushes hold a lot of paint.

Purdy Clearcut Glide 2.5″ Angled Sash
Our do-everything cut brush. Holds a line on trim and ceilings, cleans up fast, and lasts for months of daily use when treated right.

Wooster Sherlock 9″ Roller Frame
A sturdy frame that does not spin loose mid-wall. Pair it with a half-inch microplush to lay a smooth finish on most interior walls; step up nap to 3/4 for texture.
Ladders & Access

Werner Aluminum Work Platform
Great for shorter ceiling work, temporary tool storage and eating lunch.

Little Giant Ladders Leveler 2.0 M18 with Leg Levelers 18-ft Reach
Stairs, uneven exterior grade, A-frame, extension: one ladder on the truck instead of three.
Masking & Protection

20 Rolls of 1 Inch Blue Masking Painters Tape
I was hesitant on this because of the price, but ended up liking these better than most of the popular products that are out there. I feel comfortable leaving this tape on most surfaces for up to 3 days. The tackiness and thickness is perfect in my opinion. If you want to try it first, they sell it in 4 rolls as well.

Pre-Taped Masking Paper (1 Dispenser 6 Refills)
I use these a lot. Downside is that tape is a bit narrow and on some surfaces, I need to pre-tape floors along baseboards. Can be a huge timesaver on tight schedules, and they also offer packs of 12 pre-taped roll refills.

3M Hand-Masker + Film and Tape
The single biggest speed upgrade in masking. One pass tapes and films a window in seconds.

Canvas Drop Cloths (Various Sizes)
Canvas stays put, survives ladders, and does not turn into a slip hazard the way plastic does on hard floors. 4×15’s are our go-to for rolling interior walls. A couple of 12×15’s and we are usually covered.
Prep, Patch & Caulk

Zinsser MH Ready Patch 1 Qt
Interior or exterior repairs and finishing. My go-to for trim, baseboards, and even facia board. I always sand, prime and sand again.

Dynaflex 230 10.1 oz. White Premium Elastomeric Exterior/Interior Window, Door and Trim Sealant
Flexible with elastomeric. This is our go-to caulking for most jobs. Seals joints up to 1 in. wide in windows, doors and siding.

Loxon Masonry & Stucco Primer
A much needed step for untreated stucco. Ensures a uniform look and long-lasting finish.

Rust-Oleum 1 qt. Flat Rusty Metal Interior/Exterior Oil Based Primer
For rusty metal before topcoat. When used properly, allows top coats to adhere to surfaces. Stops the bleed-through callbacks.
Sprayers

Graco Airless Sprayer (crew workhorse class)
For exterior bodies and big drywall days a reliable airless pays for itself fast. Buy the model one size bigger than you think you need.

Graco Ultra QuickShot II Cordless Airless Sprayer 26E006 – Comes With Two Dewalt 20V Lithium-ion Batteries
I finally purchased this 2 months ago and use it more than I imagined. It’s perfect on small jobs and keeps you from over purchasing expensive paint. It takes FFLP tips as well, and the pressure dial is in the right place, not on the trigger area.
